thecluster,HPClusteredFileSystemmustremovetheserver’saccessto
filesystemstopreservedataintegrity.Thisstepiscalledfencing.
Whenyouconfiguretheclusterlaterinthisprocedure,youcanselectthe
fencingmethodthatyouwantto
use:
• FibreChannelSwitch‐basedfencing(alsocalled“fabricfencing”).
Whenaserverneedstobefenced,HPClusteredFileSystemdisables
theserver’saccessintheFibreChannelfabric.
•WebManagement‐BasedFencingviaServerReset/Shutdown(also
called“server‐basedfencing”).HPClusteredFileSystemusesremote
managementhardwareontheserver
toremoveitsaccesstoPSFS
filesystems.
Forsitesusingfabricfencing,theFibreChannelswitchesmustbe
configuredasdescribedbelowtoenableclusteroperationsacrossthe
SAN.
ConfiguringtheFibreChannelswitchesisnotrequiredforsitesusing
server‐basedfencing.However,iftheswitchesareconfiguredas
describedhere,certain
HPClusteredFileSystemcommandscanreturn
moreinformation.
ToconfigureFibreChannelswitches,completethefollowingtasks:
•EnableserveraccesstotheSAN.Eachserverthatwillbeinthecluster
mustbeabletoaccessthedisksintheSAN.Youmayneedtoenable
serverportsontheFC
switchesortochangethezoningconfiguration
togiveserversthenecessaryaccesstotheSAN.
