ceasestoeffectivelycoordinateandcommunicatewithotherserversin
thecluster,HPClusteredFileSystemmustremovetheserversaccessto
filesystemstopreservedataintegrity.Thisstepiscalledfencing.
Whenyouconfiguretheclusterlaterinthisprocedure,youcanselectthe
fencingmethodthatyouwantto
use:
FibreChannelSwitchbasedfencing(alsocalled“fabricfencing”).
Whenaserverneedstobefenced,HPClusteredFileSystemdisables
theserversaccessintheFibreChannelfabric.
•WebManagementBasedFencingviaServerReset/Shutdown(also
called“serverbasedfencing”).HPClusteredFileSystemusesremote
managementhardwareontheserver
toremoveitsaccesstoPSFS
filesystems.
Forsitesusingfabricfencing,theFibreChannelswitchesmustbe
configuredasdescribedbelowtoenableclusteroperationsacrossthe
SAN.
ConfiguringtheFibreChannelswitchesisnotrequiredforsitesusing
serverbasedfencing.However,iftheswitchesareconfiguredas
describedhere,certain
HPClusteredFileSystemcommandscanreturn
moreinformation.
ToconfigureFibreChannelswitches,completethefollowingtasks:
•EnableserveraccesstotheSAN.Eachserverthatwillbeinthecluster
mustbeabletoaccessthedisksintheSAN.Youmayneedtoenable
serverportsontheFC
switchesortochangethezoningconfiguration
togiveserversthenecessaryaccesstotheSAN.
