HP StorageWorks Clustered File System 3.6.0 Windows Storage Server Edition (server/software bundle) Release Notes (403107-008, February 2008)
Windows applica
tions
You may notice the following differences from NT FS filesystems when running applications on PSFS
filesystems:
• Certain Window
s
applications disable NTFS-related features when run on a PSFS filesystem.
For example, old er versions of Robocopy do not copy security descriptors. (As a workaround,
use Xcopy to copy the security descriptors.)
Open issues and workarounds for HP Clustered File System
The following open issues affect HP Clustered Gatew ay operations.
Warning mess

from HP Stora
ge
Server Management window
This message can be ignored as the mxconsole GUI will load without any issue.
Once the upgrade from 3. 4.0 to 3.6.0 is completed successfully, non-striped

Workaround—Back up the data on the conca tenated volume (if not already backed up):
1. On the Management Console, select Storage > Dynamic Volume > Recreate, and then select the
volume that you want to re-create. You can change or reorder the sub devices used for the volume,
if
desired.
2. After the volume is created, assign a dri ve letter to the volume, to match the earlier configuration.
After upgrade, the drive let ters assigned to filesystems and dynamic volumes,
are different from those assigned in earlier configuration
Workaround—To restore the original drive letters assigned to the filesystems and dynamic volumes on the
upgraded node, execute the command dledit -p on command line.
If this command returns an error ’Cannot assign drive letter "x",it is already in
use’
,th
en it is
required to manually un-assign the drive let ters from disk management. Then execute the
command dledit -p on command line again to restore original drive letters.
Re-configuration of EVA snapshot required
If HP Command View EVA v5.x is used as the manager, then use sssu-5, and if HP Command View EVA
v6.x is used then use sssu-6. For more details refer to the upgrade guide.
Network interfaces are marked “Up” and then “Down” repeatedly [3636]
The st
atus of net work interfaces may change between “Up” and “Down” about every five seconds when
there is only one server in the cluster a nd no other IP address is available to ping. This situation can
occur when a two-node cluster loses a node, or the no d e is removed from service. However, the problem
can
occur in laboratory or test conditions. To avoid the p roblem, add a router to the PAN n et work.
The p
roblem appears only if the only gateway address to ping is the interface IP address (that is, there is
not a route to an outside network). This scenario is unlikely to occur in practice, as there will likely be
many clients connected to the clustered server using a client network.
Howe
ver, the problem can occur in laboratory or test conditions. To avoid the problem, add a router to
the
PAN network.
