Supported Operating Systems
The supported operating system for HP Clustered File System 3.6.0 is
Microsoft
® Windows® Storage Server 2003 R2 (Standard x64 Edition).
User Authentication
HP Clustered File System uses Windows credentials to authorize access
to the cluster. By default, members of the machine local Administrators
group have access to the cluster and can perform all cluster operations.
When you configure the cluster, you should logon to Windows with a
domain or local user account that is a member of the machine local
Administrators group on the target HP Clustered File System node to be
configured. A domain user account is recommended to avoid additional
authentication prompting when exporting the configuration to other
servers in the cluster.
Installation Procedure
Before starting the installation, be sure to review the configuration and
hardware requirements specified in Chapter 2.
NOTE: Windows 2003 requires that a device have an assigned drive letter
or mount path before it will allow read or write access to a
partition. Consequently, HP Clustered File System requires that
the system drive (typically C:) be on an NTFS filesystem. This is
necessary because HP Clustered File System creates mount points
on the directory C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\HP Clustered
File System\conf\mounts and only NTFS filesystems support
mount points.
