Chapter 19: SAN Maintenance 236
• Repeated I/O errors when the server tries to write to a PSFS journal.
The server then loses access to the affected filesystem. When the disk
experiencing the I/O errors is fixed, the server will automatically
regain access to the filesystem.
The HP CFS Management Console typically displays an alert message
when a server loses access to the SAN. (See Appendix B for more
information about these messages.)
PSFS Filesystem Panic Messages
If you receive a panic message from the PSFS filesystem, report it to HP
Support at your earliest convenience. Then reboot the affected server to
recover from the error condition.
Membership Partitions
HP Clustered File System uses a set of membership partitions to control
access to the SAN and to store the mxds datastore and the device naming
database. (The mxds datastore contains cluster configuration information
and the device naming database includes the global device names for
SAN disks imported into the cluster.) Typically the membership
partitions are created when you install HP Clustered File System. You can
add, replace, or repair membership partitions as necessary.
When a membership partition is placed under HP Clustered File System
control, write access is disabled to prevent accidental corruption from
other applications.
Change Partitioning on Disks with Membership
Partitions
We recommend that you do all necessary partitioning on disks that will
contain membership partitions before assigning the membership
partitions. It is best to do the partitioning before multiple servers have
access to the disk. If this is not possible, ensure that all servers having
access to the disk through the SAN detect the partition table changes
before continuing on with membership partition initialization.
