Manage Hardware Snapshots
HP Clustered File System provides support for taking hardware array-
based snapshots of PSFS filesystems. The snapshots provide a point-in-
time image of a PSFS filesystem. Users or the Administrator can then use
the Microsoft Shadow Copies of Shared Folders feature to recover
individual files or whole volumes from the appropriate snapshot image.
The subdevices containing the PSFS filesystems must reside on one or
more storage arrays that are supported for snapshots.
Supported Snapshot Methods
Snapshot methods can be configured either on the HP Management
Console “Configure Cluster” window or via the mx config snapshot
utility. (See the HP StorageWorks Clustered File System Installation Guide or
Setup Guide, depending on your product, for more information.) This
procedure creates a snapshot configuration file on each server.
Hardware snapshots are supported on Hewlett-Packard StorageWorks
Enterprise Virtual Array (EVA) storage arrays and Engenio storage
arrays. See the Hardware and Software Configuration Guide for the
supported software and firmware versions.
HP EVA Storage Arrays
To take hardware snapshots or snapclones on Hewlett-Packard
StorageWorks Enterprise Virtual Array (EVA) storage arrays, a supported
version of the HP StorageWorks Scripting System Utility (SSSU) must be
installed on all servers in the cluster. Also, a supported version of
