HP StorageWorks Clustered File System 3.2.1 Windows Storage Server Edition Administration Guide (February 2006)
Chapter 12: Configure Device Monitors 133
• Single-Always-Active. The monitor is active on only one of the
selected servers. Upon server failure, the monitor will fail over to an
active server even if all associated service and device monitors are
down. (“Associated” service and device monitors are those monitors
that are associated with the same virtual host as this device monitor.)
• Multi-Active. The monitor is active simultaneously on all selected
servers. This option sets the probe type to Multi-Probe. The Selected
Servers column will not display P or B (for primary or backup).
Available Servers/Selected Servers. The type of the device monitor
affects whether the monitor should be configured on one or multiple
servers.
• A GATEWAY monitor can be configured on multiple servers.
•A
DISK monitor for a partition containing a PSFS filesystem should be
configured on all servers providing virtual hosts associated with
applications that access data on the filesystem.
•A
DISK monitor for a local device should typically be configured on
only one server.
•
CUSTOM monitors can be configured on one or more servers,
depending on the use of the monitor.
To specify servers from the command line, use this option:
--servers <server1>,<server2>,...
