HP StorageWorks Clustered File System 3.1.1 for Linux Installation Guide (May 2006)

Appendix A: Install the SLES9 Operating System and Kernel 44
boot time, allowing it to load its own modules. If this behavior is
not desired, the blacklist file can be edited; however, doing this is
not recommended.
1. Download and Install the Kernel Source
The appropriate kernel source can be downloaded from the SuSE Web
site. To install the kernel, use the instructions provided by SuSE.
2. Install the Clustered File System Support RPM
The Clustered File System Support RPM contains Clustered File System
kernel patches, if any, as well as support files for each kernel supported in
the release. Installing the Support RPM is required if you will be using FS
Option for Linux or there are other kernel patches that you want to
install. (There are no kernel patches in this release.)
To install the Support RPM, mount the Clustered File System CD or go to
the location where you downloaded the software and then run the
following command. Be sure to use the version of the RPM that
corresponds to your architecture (i586 for 32-bit or x84_64 for 64-bit).
# rpm -i <mountpoint>/<os>/<wordsize>/pmxs-sles9-support-3.1.0-
<xxxx>.<arch>.rpm
The installation creates a subdirectory in /usr/src/polyserve for each kernel
provided in the RPM. Each kernel subdirectory contains the following:
•A configs subdirectory containing the sample configuration files for
that kernel.
•A patches subdirectory containing any HP kernel patches for that
kernel. These patches are automatically applied when the RPM is
installed. (There are no kernel patches with this release.)
3. Install the Clustered File System SW for Linux
Patches RPM
If you will be using FS Option for Linux, install the kernel patches RPM
provided with that product. Mount the Clustered File System CD, or go
to the location where you downloaded the software and then run the
following command:
