HP Clustered FileSystem3.6.1 for Windows release notes (T4422-96003, September 2008)
• Networks can now be excluded from HP Clustered File System administrative
traffic. The mx netif command has new options for specifying whether a
network should be used for administrative traffic and the option and output from
the mx netif status
command have changed.
• HP Clustered File System notifiers have been replaced by the new script event
notifier. If you were using notifiers in a n earlier release of HP Clustered File
System, you can configure the script event notifier with your script and specify the
events that should trigger the notifier
• When a mount path is assigned to a PSFS filesystem, HP Clustered File System
can
now crea te the mount directory on each server that will mount the filesystem.
• The admin login, the mxpasswd file and the mxpasswd command are now
obsolete. These features have been replaced by the new single sign-on feature.
• The mxlogger command has been replaced by the mx matrix log
<message>
command.
• The network ports used for external connections to HP Clustered File Sy stem
have changed. HP Clustered File System now listens on por t 6771 (H TTPS
connection from the HP Management Console). If HP Clustered File System is
behind a firewall, it may be necessary to change the firewall rules to allow
traffic for this port. (HP Clustered File System previously listened on ports 9050,
9070, and 9071.)
Installation instructions
See the
HP Clu stered F ile S ystem Setup Guide, Installation Guide, and upgrade
instru
ctions for installation instructions.
Upgrades from HP Clustered File System 3.4
It is important to upgrade all nodes in the cluster within a s hor t time frame. We do not
recommend running the cluster for an extended period of time with only some of the
nodes upgraded to 3.6.1. This release introduces a new config uration data repository
and a
new logging facility that d o not become fully functional until all nod es are
upgraded. If the cluster is only partially upgraded, alerts raised by nodes running 3.6 will
be
improperly logged by nodes running 3.4. Also, until the entire cluster is upgraded,
many services that are run on 3.6 nodes must be run as local system administrator.
Supported filesystem features
The PSFS filesystem supports a wide variety of NTFS filesystem interfaces and semantics.
It
smoothly integrates into existing Windows environments, suppor ting all of the standard
filesystem read, write, open, and close calls and simplifying application deployment
a
nd scalability.
The PSFS filesystem supports the following features of the NTFS filesystem:
