HP Device Manager 4.5 - Recovering Old Templates

4
Overview
This document discusses how to make old templates work in HPDM 4.5. The steps in this document are
based on these assumptions:
You have the Master Repository properly configured.
You have templates to recover exported with payload.
You have old repositories backed up.
Background
The repository system was changed significantly in HPDM 4.5:
All templates with payload have been modified.
Some templates have been deprecated and replaced by new ones.
The deprecated templates are no longer in the system.
The sequence templates and rules containing deprecated templates are broken.
Recovering “File and Registrytemplates
File and Registry templates with Copy Files subtasks have not been removed from the system, but they will fail
on the Copy Files steps. In this situation, you can modify the old template and add payload files to it. You
can follow these steps to recover a File and Registry template with payload:
1. Prepare the payload. You can either:
a. Extract the exported ZIP file. You will get an XML file and a payload folder. The payload folder
contains all the payload files you referred to in that template.
—or—
b. Open the location where you backed up the repository. Go to the folder Repository\Files\Push
to Agent. This folder contains all the payload files you referred to in all File and Registry templates.
2. Double-click the File and Registry template to open the Template Editor dialog. You will find old Copy
Files subtasks have been changed into new Capture Files or Deploy Files subtasks, according to their
direction of transference.
