HP DC04 SAN Director Switch Hardware Reference Guide
only with Fabric OS 7.1.0a and later), increased to up to four per chassis with Fabric
OS 6.4.x.
◦ FCOE10-24: 24-port (24 10-GbE ports) CEE-based FCoE blade, enabling enhanced
connectivity over existing Ethernet infrastructure. Up to two blades per chassis.
• Modular hot-swappable FS8-18 encryption blade: 16-port, up to 4 blades per chassis,
supporting data cryptographic (encryption/decryption) and data-compression capabilities.
NOTE: If the FR4-18i, FC10-6, FC8-48, FC8-64, FS8-18, FX8-24, FX8-24E, or FCOE-1024
blade is used, 220 VAC is required.
• Modular hot-swappable FRUs:
Two blower assemblies.◦
◦ Two 100 to 240 VAC power supplies.
◦ At 240 VAC, two power supplies are required to provide redundancy, although the DC04
SAN Director can be fully powered with a single power supply at 240 VAC.
◦ Two redundant WWN cards on the non-port side, to maintain chassis-specific information
such as WWNs, IP addresses, and summary status information for each Director blade
and power supply through LEDs.
◦ 4-Gb and 8-Gb SFP optical transceivers. (4-Gb SFPs operate at 1 Gb, 2 Gb, or 4 Gb.
8-Gb SFPs and mSFPs operate at 2 Gb, 4 Gb. or 8 Gb.)
◦ XFP optical transceivers (10 Gb/s).
• All blades are serviced from the port side of the DC04 SAN Director. Blowers, power supplies,
and power cables are serviced from the non-port side.
• WWN cards on the nonport side, with WWN status LEDs located under the bezel.
• Improved cable management using two vertical cable management fingers and a redesigned
chassis door.
• Constant intake and FRU temperature monitoring.
• Redundant AC primary power connections to ensure high availability. Each power supply has
its own connector, so the number of primary power connections varies from two to four.
Port side of the DC04 SAN Director
NOTE: Airflow in the DC04 SAN Director is from the non-port side to the left side of the chassis
(viewed from the port side) and out the exhaust vent. The included port side exhaust kit redirects
the airflow out the port side of the chassis.
Figure 1 (page 9) shows a sample configuration of the port side of the DC04 SAN Director
without the port side exhaust kit installed. Figure 2 (page 9) shows the DC04 SAN Director with
the port side exhaust kit installed.
