Facility requirements
The facility where the product is in use must meet the following requirements to provide for correct
operation:
Adequate supply circuit, line fusing, and wire size, as specified by the electrical rating on the
chassis nameplate
An air flow of at least 595 cubic meters per hour (350 cubic feet per minute) in the immediate
vicinity of the DC04 SAN Director
The power specifications listed in Table 25 (page 104)
The environmental specifications listed in Table 28 (page 108)
If the product will be installed in an EIA rack, ensure the following:
All equipment installed in the rack has a reliable branch circuit ground connection and
does not rely on a connection to a branch circuit, such as a power strip.
The rack is balanced and mechanically secured to provide stability in the event of an
earthquake.
Additional equipment does not exceed the weight limits of the rack.
Power specifications
NOTE: If the FR4-18i, FC10-6, FC8-48, FC8-64, FS8-18, FX8-24, FX8-24E, or FCOE-1024 blade
is used, 220 VAC is required.
DC04 SAN Director
The power subsystem is a redundant +48 VDC power distribution system with a provision for up
to two 2,000 W, 48 VDC bulk power supplies. Two bulk power supplies produce the intermediate
distribution voltage in the distributed power system.
The power specifications in Table 25 (page 104) are calculated for fully loaded systems with two
power supplies, four FC8-48 port blades, two CP8 blades, two CR4S-8 blades, and two blower
assemblies.
