Installation and configuration of Windows Multipath I/O Feature (MPIO)
HP 3PAR supports native Windows 2008 and Windows 2008 R2 MPIO. To configure MPIO for
3PAR Storage System, several steps must be performed:
• Install Windows MPIO Feature using Server Manager (see Figure
9).
• Start disk rescan using the Disk Management tool. At this point, you should be able to see all
VLUNs that are exported to the server. The same VLUN will be listed as many times as there are
paths to that VLUN (see Figure
10).
• In the MPIO Properties windows, go to Discover Multi-Paths tab. In the Device Hardware Id
window, the 3PAR VVs should be listed. Click Add to add 3PAR VLUNs to MPIO configuration
(see Figure 1).
• Reboot the system.
• After system is rebooted, you will be able to see VLUNs listed only once in the Disk Management
Tool.
• Bring the VLUNs online in case they are in an offline state.
