HP Data Protector software integration with HP StorageWorks P4000 SAN (LeftHand) solutions
2
Executive Summary
This white paper provides detailed information on how to integrate HP Data Protector software
with HP StorageWorks P4000 SAN Solutions. The solution is based on Data Protector Zero
Downtime Backup.
The solution described in this white paper introduces support for a Data Protector Zero Downtime
Backup solution on HP P4000 iSCSI SAN.
Note: HP StorageWorks P4000 SAN Solutions were formerly known as LeftHand SAN.
Audience
This white paper is intended for solution architects, project managers, engineers, and support
personnel involved in planning, designing, and configuring a Data Protector Zero Downtime Backup
solution with HP StorageWorks P4000 SANs.
You need to be familiar with:
• HP P4000 architecture
• Data Protector and its Zero Downtime Backup solution
This white paper does not replace the official documentation.
HP P4000 ecosystem
HP StorageWorks P4000 SAN Solutions are iSCSI storage networks based on storage clustering.
Storage clustering allows you to create pools of storage by consolidating storage nodes on the
network into a cluster, providing high levels of performance and scalability.
Figure 1: Storage clustering creates pools of resources on a set of HP StorageWorks P4000 SAN systems and presents them as
virtual volumes to the application servers
