Installation
Prerequisites
Ensure you have HP Data Protector A.06.11 installed, with the following:
A supported Cell Manager.
A supported Windows user interface client.
A supported Windows Installation Server.
A supported Windows system available for use as a backup host.
For details on supported systems, refer to the support matrix.
The VMware virtual environment to be backed up must be at vSphere 4.0 or 4.1.
Firewall configuration
Ensure that the following ports are open:
443 on backup hosts, ESX(i) Server systems, and vCenter Server systems
This is the default value used by VMware. If VMware uses a different port, ensure that this port is
open.
5555 on all Data Protector clients (this is a prerequisite for the general Data Protector
installation procedure)

Installation procedure
The installation procedure consists of two main parts:
1. Install Data Protector patches on the Cell Manager and Installation Server. For details, see
Installing Data Protector patches.
2. Install Data Protector components on appropriate clients. For details, see Installing Data
Protector components.
Installing Data Protector patches
You need to install the following Data Protector patches:
1. Core patch:
Install the core patch on both the Cell Manager and Installation Server. The file that needs to be
self-extracted depends on the operating system:
Windows system: DPWIN_00475 or DPWIN_00492
Solaris system: DPSOL_00427
Linux system: DP_LNX_00133
HP-UX (PA-RISC): PHSS_41363
HP-UX (Itanium): PHSS_41364
2. Cell Manager patch:
Install the Cell Manager patch on the Cell Manager. The file that needs to be self-extracted
depends on the operating system:
Windows system: DPWIN_0499
Solaris system: DPSOL_00440
