HP Data Protector A.06.11 localization to Simplified Chinese
Introduction
The release version of Data Protector A.06.11 was localized to two languages: French and
Japanese. The Data Protector patches listed in Table 1 introduce support for Simplified Chinese
(GB18030) to Data Protector A.06.11 for all installed base customers and new customers. No
special product version needs to be ordered on top of Data Protector A.06.11. Older versions of
Data Protector are not supported.
This white paper provides information on how to install the patches, enable support for Simplified
Chinese, as well as limitations and troubleshooting information.

Localization scope
The following Data Protector components are localized:
original GUI (on Windows)
CLI messages and notifications (on Windows, HP-UX, Solaris, and Linux systems)
online Help (including context sensitive (F1) Help)
a limited set of product manuals:
– HP Data Protector product announcements, software notes, and references
– HP Data Protector getting started guide
– HP Data Protector concepts guide
– HP Data Protector installation and licensing guide
Limitations
The following Data Protector components are not localized:
– Java GUI
– manual (man) pages on UNIX
– CLI commands and options (synopsis)
– documentation content related to additional platforms supported with these patches (such as
support for disaster recovery of Linux systems, zero downtime backup and instant recovery
support for Linux systems)
The localized version of Data Protector is supported on Microsoft Windows with Simplified
Chinese language support. International versions of Microsoft Windows are not supported.
Support in future Data Protector releases
Starting with the next release of Data Protector, Simplified Chinese will be supported as part of
the product launch.
