Introduction This white paper describes how to back up and restore the Lotus Domino Server whose databases are DAOS enabled using HP Data Protector A.06.11.

Data Protector Lotus Integration The Data Protector Lotus Integration Agent helps to protect and manage Domino Server data by making it easy to perform the following actions: • Online backup of the whole Lotus Notes/Domino Server or a specific database • Centralized, online, full and incremental backup of Lotus Notes/Domino databases • Restore without performing a recovery • Restore of backup versions of a Lotus Notes/Domino database and application of changes made since the backup from the transaction log

Support of DAOS by Data Protector Lotus Integration Enabling DAOS from Lotus Domino Server end (source: Lotus Domino) 1. Verify that transaction logging is enabled on the Domino server. This is a prerequisite for DAOS. Using “show server” on the server console, you should see a line stating “Transactional Logging: Enabled”. Transaction logging can be enabled on the Transaction Logging tab of your server document. 2. Completely disable Shared Mail.

Backup and restore of DAOS enabled databases Backup With Data Protector 6.11, you can back up both DAOS and non-DAOS databases. The NLOs belonging to DAOS databases can be backed up by FS system backup of Data Protector 6.11. • Full backup of DAOS databases: All the databases are backed up. While backing up the NSF belonging to DAOS, the backup size will be negligible to the extent that the sizes of attachments in mails are not accounted. This results in reduced size and backup time.

• Either restore all of the NLO files from a restore session of the particular time then perform a resync. • Or run the command “ > tell daosmgr listnlo -o missing2.txt MISSING ”. The missing2.txt file will have the list of all NLOs for the appropriate nsf file, and these NLOs can be restored via a Data Protector filesystem restore by referring to the missing list. After the NLOs are restored, run the resync command.
