HP StoreOnce B6200 Maintenance and Service Guide (February, 2014)

f. An enclosure pair with 1TB drives will have 24 TB of raw storage and 16 TB of raid
storage.
g. Determine the number of enclosure pairs in a couplet and calculate the sum of storage.
h. Verify that this amount of RAID6 storage is approximately the same as that displayed for
the given service set pair (couplet)
For example: in a couplet with 48 TB base couplet with 24 TB of storage expansion,
each node would have two enclosure shelves. One shelf would have 2 TB drives and the
other shelf would have 1 TB drives.
The couplet would have 48 TB of RAID6 storage (32 + 16). If all the storage in the couplet
has been correctly discovered, approximately 32,000 GB of storage will be listed for
the service set pair.
20. If the storage reported as discovered does not match the actual storage, check the cabling to
the MSA storage.
21. Enter the following StoreOnce CLI command at the CLI prompt to add the storage to the system.
hardware add storage
22. Enter the following StoreOnce CLI command to determine storage addition status
system show status
This command can be entered at any time to determine storage status.
23. Once all the storage is listed as formatted, the addition of storage is complete.
It will take 1 to 3 hours for all the storage to be discovered.
Quick restore a single node
1. Make sure that power, network, keyboard and monitor, and all expansion enclosures are
attached to the StoreOnce node to be repaired, then insert the QR USB stick into one of the
front or rear USB ports and power on the system.
2. After the system powers up and completes self-tests it will boot from the USB key and launch
the Linux installation process.
3. After a few seconds a boot splash screen will appear offering the choice or Reimage (R) or
Exit (E). Press R to continue to the installation process.
4. A warning will now be displayed indicating that all data will be lost after pressing y”. THIS
IS THE LAST CHANCE TO EXIT THE INSTALL PROCESS WITHOUT DATA LOSS.
5. Press yes to continue.
6. The installation process will now continue and will:
1. Delete the existing Logical storage configuration on the node head disks.
2. Create a new Logical storage partition; which is a pair of mirrored disks.
3. Install the Operating System and appliance software on the node.
7. After installation completes remove the USB stick and reboot the system.
