HP XP7 Replication Manager Configuration Guide (TK981-96012, May 2014)

NOTE:
If you are using a Windows 32-bit environment, you cannot set Large as a memory heap size.
For details about how to increase the memory heap size, see the HP XP7 Command View Advanced
Edition Installation and Configuration Guide.
This section discusses the following:
Maximum number of copy pairs, page 35
Maximum number of LDEVs, page 36
Log data and number of copy pairs, page 37
NOTE:
Mainframe system resources managed by RAID Manager must be managed as open system resources.
See Prerequisites for managing copy pairs on mainframe systems using RAID Manager on page 24
for more information.
Maximum number of copy pairs
The following table shows the maximum number of copy pairs.
Table 14 Maximum number of copy pairs that can be managed
Number of copy pairs
by memory heap size

Notes:
1. Use this formula to determine the number of copy pairs:
(number-of-copy-pairs-for-open-systems * 6) + number-of-copy-pairs-for-
mainframe-systems
NOTE:
In consideration of response time and memory usage, the maximum number of both open and
mainframe pairs that can be operated on by the Pair Configuration Wizard at one time is 1,000. In
the case of a mainframe system, when operating a copy group or consistency group that includes
25,000 or more copy pairs, specify Medium or Large for the memory size.
