HP XP7 Replication Manager Configuration Guide (TK981-96012, May 2014)
• The configuration definition file for RAID Manager that exists on the pair management server
• Copy groups that are defined in the RAID Manager configuration definition file
• Copy pairs that configure copy groups.
If the above items are not displayed correctly, refresh the configuration information for Device Manager
server. For details, see the HP XP7 Replication Manager User Guide.
If a validation code is displayed in the instruction of list of configuration definition files in the Pair
Configuration view, see the topic that explains about validation codes in the online help to check the
cause and the action to be taken.
Troubleshooting replica operations
This section covers error conditions and log events that may occur and how to address them:
• Replica creation fails silently, page 133
• Backup server is not recognized as a pair management server, page 133
• Restoring a replica with roll-forward fails with error message RPM-11510, page 134
• Creating a replica fails with error message RPM-10006, page 134
• Creating a replica fails with event IDs 17, 1 and 10010, page 134
• Disk status remains online after replica operation is complete, page 135
Replica creation fails silently
If replica creation fails when there is not enough disk space to create transaction log files, there may
be no error messages displayed. To delete transaction logs periodically, select Truncate Exchange
transaction log files in the Execution Options of the Create Replica Wizard (2. Setup Options) page.
When this option is selected, transaction log files will be automatically deleted every time a backup
is performed.
Backup server is not recognized as a pair management server
If Replication Manager does not recognize the backup server as a pair management server, make
sure that the RAID Manager instance on the backup server is running before performing the following
operations:
• Executing Setup Agent or Refresh Hosts
• Executing Mount Replica or Unmount Replica.
TIP:
Even if Replication Manager appears to recognize the backup server as a pair management server,
you should still confirm that the RAID Manager instance on the backup server is running if the following
conditions are true:
• The configuration is a cluster configuration.
• The backup server contains the configuration definition file on the secondary machine, and no
primary configuration file exists.
