5 HP XP7 Command View Advanced Edition
server installation in a cluster environment
By clustering two HP XP7 Command View Advanced Edition product management servers in an
active-standby configuration, the availability of HP XP7 Command View Advanced Edition products
can be improved.
This module explains how to set up a cluster environment for HP XP7 Command View Advanced
Edition products.
Prerequisites for a cluster environment
To set up HP XP7 Command View Advanced Edition in a cluster environment, the management server
must have sufficient unused capacity to re-create and back up the database.
Unused capacity required where the database is re-created
For a new installation:
Required unused capacity =
Disk space used by the Common Component database
+ the disk space used by the databases for all HP XP7 Command View
Advanced Edition products (including the Device Manager server data-
base) installed on a Device Manager server
Upgrading from v7.6.1 or earlier:
Required unused capacity =
Disk space used by the Common Component database
+ the disk space used by the databases for all HP XP7 Command View
Advanced Edition products (including the Device Manager server data-
base) installed on a Device Manager server
+ 0.7 GB
Unused capacity required to back up the databases
Required unused capacity =
(Total size of all HP XP7 Command View Advanced Edition product data-
bases to be backed up + 4.6 GB) x 2
The combined size of the Device Manager, Tiered Storage Manager, Replication Manager, and
Common Component databases is equal to the size of the folders or directories that contain the
database files for the corresponding products. For details about the size of other HP XP7 Command
View Advanced Edition product databases, see the manuals for those products.
