3 Host Data Collector installation
This module describes how to install and set up Host Data Collector.
Prerequisites for installing Host Data Collector
Best practice is to use the default values during installation of Host Data Collector, such as installation
path and port number.
The following table lists values required for Host Data Collector installation.

If you change the default installation folder, verify that the installation
location satisfies the following conditions:
Maximum 64 bytesAbsolute path length

A to Z, a to z, 0 to 9, periods (.), underscores (_),
left parentheses ( ( ), right parentheses ( ) ),
single-byte spaces, backslashes (\), and colons
(:)
Linux:
A to Z, a to z, 0 to 9, underscores (_), and
forward slashes (/)
Allowed characters
Windows:
Do not include consecutive spaces.
Do not include a single byte space at the be-
ginning or end of a folder name.
Do not specify the root of a drive as the install-
ation destination.

Specify the non-SSL communication port number
of the RMI registry (default: 22098/tcp).
