About the relationship between commands and roles
To execute Device Manager commands, a user must belong to a user group to which resource groups
and roles are assigned. The user can perform operations on only assigned resources and within the
range of their assigned roles. Before executing commands, confirm what limitations there are (what
resources can be accessed and what roles are assigned) with the administrator managing access
control.
In Device Manager, users are registered in user groups, and resources are registered in resource
groups. By assigning resource groups and roles to user groups, a user's access to resources can be
controlled. Use the GUI to register users and user groups, and assign resource groups and roles.
The available roles are the Admin, Modify, View, and Custom roles. Custom roles can be set in HP
XP7 storage systems to specify the scope of user operations in detail. For details about roles, see the
HP XP7 Command View Advanced Edition User Guide.
