NOTE:
• This command can be used only with HP XP7 and P9500 (with a microcode version of 70-05-
04-XX/XX or later).
• If the virtual LDEV is a pool volume, all pool volumes that belong to the pool ID must belong to
the same virtual resource group. If the virtual LDEV to be specified is a pool volume, specify all
the pool volumes that have the same pool ID.
• If the virtual LDEV is a journal volume, for the registration destination, specify a virtual resource
group that belong to the default virtual storage machine. In addition, all journal volumes that belong
to the journal group must belong to the same virtual resource group. If the virtual LDEV to be
specified is a journal volume, specify all the journal volumes that have the same journal group.
• To add multiple virtual LDEVs, use the batch function. For details about the batch function, see
Chapter 6 on page 503.
For HP XP7 storage systems, you can specify the vldevoperation parameter to add a virtual LDEV
without a virtual device number or virtual information.
The following describes the conditions that a virtual LDEV must satisfy to register and update LDEV
virtual information:
For HP XP7:
• It does not have a path.
• It must be an open volume
For P9500:
• It is not a pool volume or a journal volume.
• It is not a LUSE volume.
• It does not have a path.
• It is not a command device
• It must be an open volume
• The emulation type must be OPEN-V.
• The virtual LDEV that is to be added to a virtual resource group must belong to a resource group
(meta_resource) that is managed by a storage system management tool and whose resource
group ID is 0.
