AddVirtualVolume
AddVirtualVolume creates THP/Smart volumes in a target storage system. This command also
assigns the THP/Smart volumes to be added to a target THP/Smart pool.
NOTE:
This command can be used only with HP XP7, P9500, and XP24000/XP20000.
If you use the poolid parameter to specify the pool ID of a THP/Smart pool, the THP/Smart volumes
that are created are assigned to that THP/Smart pool.
For HP XP7, P9500, and XP24000/XP20000, AddVirtualVolume can be used to create a virtual
parity group and populate it with THP/Smart volumes. For XP24000/XP20000, AddVirtualVolume
can be used to create THP volumes in an existing virtual parity group.
For HP XP7, P9500, and XP24000/XP20000, if no SSID is assigned to devNum of the created
THP/Smart volumes, one is assigned automatically. For details about the SSID, see the storage system
documentation.
The following conditions must be satisfied if you use this command with HP XP7 and P9500:
When a THP/Smart pool is specified, its status must not be Blocked.
When a THP/Smart pool is specified, the over-provisioning percent must be less than the over
provisioning limit threshold.
NOTE:
If you use this command with HP XP7 and P9500, you cannot create more than one THP/Smart volume
in a virtual parity group.
The following conditions must be satisfied if you use this command with XP24000/XP20000:
They must have an emulation type of OPEN-V.
The unused capacity on the virtual volume must be larger than the capacity of the THP volumes.
If you are creating THP volumes in an existing virtual group, the CLPR number of any THP pool
that you specify must be the same as the CLPR number of the virtual parity group.
When a THP pool is specified, its status must not be Blocked.
