Editing and selecting external paths
In the Edit External Paths dialog box or the Add/Remove External Paths dialog box that starts from
the Virtualize Volumes dialog box, if you can execute a volume virtualization task in which nine or
more external paths were set and created, but the task does not complete and issues the KAIC15001-E
message. When you create external paths in a volume virtualization task, create eight or fewer (storage
system specification). If the error above occurs, delete the external path settings, create eight or fewer
specified external paths, and then re-execute the volume virtualization task.
Virtualizing storage devices
If you perform a volume virtualization task created under all of the following conditions in the Virtualize
Volumes dialog box, the task generates a KAIC15001-E error:
• The external paths are set to the volumes that are selected when you launch the Virtualize Volumes
dialog box.
• Both of the ports on the internal storage side and external storage side in the external paths
described in the first condition are selected.
Virtualize a storage device by either of the following methods:
Using the GUI: Perform either of the following operations, then retry the volume virtualization task.
• Cancel the external path assigned to the external volumes.
• Create a new path by selecting a port other than the ports of the internal storage system, or by
selecting a port other than the ports of the external storage system.
Not using the GUI:
• CLI AddExternalArrayGroup command.
• Element Manager, Remote Web Console, or XP Remote Web Console.
