About this guide
This manual describes how to configure the environment settings for and how to install the HP StorageWorks
XP Advanced Edition Provisioning Manager.
Intended audience
This manual is intended for those who use Provisioning Manager to operate or manage a system that uses a
storage subsystem (magnetic disk array unit). The readers of this manual should have the following
knowledge:
• A basic knowledge of SANs (Storage Area Networks).
• Knowledge of the HP StorageWorks XP Advanced Edition Device Manager installation, as well as user
setup, user group setup, volume (LDEV) creation, and logical group creation.
• A basic knowledge of the Windows

or Solaris™ operating system on which Provisioning Manager and
Device Manager run.
• A basic knowledge of the Windows
®
, Solaris™, AIX
®
, Linux or HP-UX operating system on which the
Device Manager agent runs.
Prerequisites
Prerequisites for installing this product include:
• Reading through the user’s guide
• Meeting all the minimum installation requirements
• Reviewing the readme.txt file on the CD for any last-minute announcements
