2. To use Provisioning Manager to set up and operate the host, install the Device Manager agent and
configure its environment settings.
The agent facility of Provisioning Manager is also installed when you install a Device Manager agent
supported by Provisioning Manager.
When you install a Device Manager agent supported by Provisioning Manager, the agent facility of
Provisioning Manager is also installed.
For details about how to install a Device Manager agent, see the
HP StorageWorks Command View XP
Advanced Edition Device Manager Agent Installation and Configuration Guide.
2-3 Starting and Stopping the Provisioning Manager Server and
the Device Manager Agent
You do not need to start or stop the Provisioning Manager server, because it is started or stopped
automatically when you launch the Device Manager server. You can check the event log or the syslog to
verify that the Provisioning Manager server is running.
Device Manager and Provisioning Manager share an agent, so launching the Device Manager agent is all
that is necessary.
