NOTE: To create, and delete file systems and device files on the host, and to use host management
functions (including file system and device file management), you must install Device Manager agent,
which is a component of Device Manager, on each host. Installing Device Manager agent onto a host
also installs Provisioning Manager agent.
CAUTION: Do not uninstall the Provisioning Manager agent separately, because Device Manager and
Provisioning Manager share a common agent. If you do, reinstall the Device Manager agent. After the
Device Manager agent is installed on a Windows
®
host, HP StorageWorks XP Provisioning Manager-
Agent is displayed in Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel.
Diskpart.exe Command Line Utility Provisioning Manager contains functionality that requires the
Diskpart.exe command line utility provided by Microsoft
®
. When the OS of the host managed by
Provisioning Manager is Windows
®
2000, you need to obtain the diskpart.exe command line utility
separately. You can download this utility from the Microsoft
®
Website.

1-5-1 Hitachi Dynamic Link Manager
Hitachi Dynamic Link Manager must be installed on the host for path redundancy. Table 1-6 lists the required
versions for the different host operating systems. For more information on Hitachi Dynamic Link Manager,

NOTE: Although the presence of a path manager other than Dynamic Link Manager does not cause any
problems, there are limitations on GUI-based display and manipulation of LUs that are managed by another
path manager. For details, see the HP StorageWorks XP Provisioning Manager User Guide.
