9-2 Collecting Maintenance Information
When an error occurs in a Device Manager server, you can use the cvxpaegetlogs command
to obtain the maintenance information required for analyzing the Device Manager server error.
9-2-1 Using the cvxpaegetlogs Command to get Log Files
9-2-1-1 cvxpaegetlogs Command Features
The cvxpaegetlogs command had the following features:
• When you execute the cvxpaegetlogs command, the content of the directory specified with the
dir option must be empty. If the directory specified with the dir option does not exist, the
cvxpaegetlogs command creates the directory.
• Set the write permission of the directory specified with the -dir option so that files can be created
in the directory.
• The cvxpaegetlogs command acquires the log files and database. If you execute the
command, four archive files (.jar, .hdb.jar, .db.jar, and .csv.jar) are created.
• Do not run more than one cvxpaegetlogs command simultaneously.
• To execute the cvxpaegetlogs command, you need to log in with either administrator or root
privileges.
• In the arc option, do not use a character that is not permitted for a file name by the OS.
• In the dir option, do not use a character that is not permitted for a directory name by the OS.
9-2-1-2 cvxpaegetlogs Command Format
The cvxpaegetlogs command collects the log file, and has the following format:
Windows
®
: <common component installation directory>\bin\cvxpaegetlogs /dir
directory-name <type application name>/arc <archive file name>
• dir: Directory name specifies the name of the directory that stores the log file.
• type application name specifies the name of the application from which the log file will be
collected. To collect the log file of Device Manager, specify DeviceManager as the application
name. If you do not specify the application type, all the Web applications registered in Command
View XP AE Common Component are applicable.
• arc: Archive file name specifies the name of the archive file to be created. If you don’t specify
this parameter, the default is cvxpae_logs. When the archive file name is output, it will have a
.jar extension.
• Return values:
• 0: Normal termination.
• 1: Parameter error.
• 2: Abnormal termination.
For example, where the OS is Windows
®
, and you are collecting only the Device Manager log, the
command would be:
• <common component installation directory>\bin\cvxpaegetlogs /dir
desired-directory /type DeviceManager
Where the OS is Windows
®
, and you are collecting the log of every Command View XP AE product in
the default archive file, the command would be:
• <common component installation directory>\bin\cvxpaegetlogs /dir
desired-directory
