HP StorageWorks Command View XP Advanced Edition Device Manager Agent Installation and Configuration Guide (December 2005)
Troubleshooting Device Manager Agent Operations 73
4-4 Device Manager Agent Log Files
If an error occurs in the Device Manager agent, an error message is output to a log file, for use in
determining the cause of the error.
For details about the error messages for the Device Manager agent, contact your HP support
representative for assistance.
4-4-1 Error Log Files
If any problem occurs in the execution of the daemon/service or WebServer processes of the Device
Manager agent, it records information about that problem to the proper log files.
Table 4-4 Other Error Log Files
Log File Name and Location Description
HDVM/agent/logs/service.log This file is a log of the WebServer function. The generation process of
XML Response message and its contents is recorded to this file.
HDVM/agent/logs/access.log All accesses to the WebServer function of the Device Manager agent
are recorded to this file.
HDVM/agent/logs/trace.log Usually this file is empty. If you specify “DEBUG” or “INFO” for
logger.loglevel in the property file “logger.properties” (see section
3-
11-2 ), the internal information of the WebServer function is logged to
this file. This option slows down the performance of the WebServer
function. Do not specify these options unless it is absolutely
necessary.
HDVM/agent/logs/error.log This file is an error log of the Device Manager agent’s WebServer
function.
HDVM/bin/logs/hdvmagterr.log This file is an error log of the Device Manager agent’s daemon/service
process.
HDVM/util/logs/hldu_err.log This file is an error log of the Device Manager agent’s process that
finds the attached XP disk array devices (logical units, LUs) on
StorageWorks XP disk arrays.
