Table 3-1 HiScan Command Syntax
Syntax
Component
Description
Description The HiScan command reports information about attached StorageWorks XP disk arrays. HiScan
scans system information and constructs associations between file systems, volumes, partitions
and disk drives. From these results it creates a HTTP/XML message. Depending upon
parameters, HiScan can transmit this message to a Device Manager server so that host, file
system, disk adapter, and utilization information can be associated with StorageWorks XP disk
arrays.
This command requires super user or Administrator privileges.
Option -s {IP-address[:port-number] | host-name[:port-number] | localhost[:port-number] }Specifies the
network address for the transfer destination of the HTTP/XML message generated by the Device
Manager agent.
An IP address, a host name, or localhost can be specified as a network address. In addition, a
port number can be attached to the address in an address:port-number format.
If no port number is provided, the default port number is 2001. For example; 192.168.1.102:2001.
(The Device Manager server port number is configured during the Device Manager server
installation.)
This is an optional parameter. If -s is omitted, the -t option must be supplied.
-u userid: The user identifier is used by the Device Manager server to validate HiScan database
update requests. If the -s parameter is supplied and u parameter is omitted, HiScan uses the
userid and password that are stored in server.server.authorization of the
server.properties file (see
Table 3-8).
-p password: The password is used by the Device Manager server to validate the userid supplied
in the -u parameter. The –p parameter is required if the -u parameter is supplied.
Note: If the –s parameter is supplied and -p parameter is omitted, HiScan uses the userid and
password that are stored in server.server.authorization of the server.properties
file (see
Table 3-8).
-c execution period: Pauses for xx seconds between successive scan/report cycles. Continue to
iterate until a termination signal is encountered. Values of less than ten seconds are recognized
as invalid. If -t is supplied, -c must not be used.
-t output-file: Sends the output messages to the indicated output file.
Note: This option is intended for diagnostic purposes only. The -t option may be supplied in
addition to the -s option. If both are supplied, the output request message and input response
message (from the Device Manager server) are both included in the output file. If –t is supplied, -c
must not be used.
Exit Status The following exit values are returned:
0 successful completion.
>0 an error occurred.
