HP StorageWorks Command View XP Advanced Edition Device Manager Agent Installation and Configuration Guide (December 2005)

Installation Requirements and Procedures 31
When installing the Device Manager agent, the JRE (version 1.4.2 (Build 06 or later)) must be
installed in advance. Use the following procedure to install the JRE. For the 32-bit processor version,
install the 32-bit JRE. For the 64-bit processor version, install the 64-bit Java 2 SDK:
If you want to newly install the Device Manager agent, use the installation support tool to first install
the JRE required for the Device Manager agent, and then install the Device Manager agent.
To install the JRE and the Device Manager agent:
1. Store the JRE installer in any directory.
Download the JRE from the Sun Microsystems website. For the 32-bit processor version,
download the 32-bit JRE. For the 64-bit processor version, download the 64-bit Java 2 SDK.
2. Insert the Device Manager Agent CD-ROM and mount it.
3. From the CD-ROM, copy the files and subdirectories stored under the directory containing the
Device Manager agent installer to the directory in which you stored the JRE in step 1.
CAUTION: Do not store more than one JRE in the copy destination directory.
4. Enter the following command to execute the installation support tool (agent_jre_setup.sh).
# ./agent_jre_setup.sh
NOTE: You can execute installation by specifying a JRE installer and a Device Manager agent installer
that are not stored in the same directory. Execute the following command:
# ./agent_jre_setup.sh jre=JRE-installer-name agent=Device-Manager-agent-
installer-name
Use the full path to specify the name of the JRE installer for JRE-installer-name and the name of
the Device Manager agent installer for Device-Manager-agent-installer-name.
CAUTION: If the JRE (version 1.4.2) was not specified, the error message KAIC25165-E appears,
and the installation is canceled.
5. At this point, software licensing agreement information will appear. If you do not accept the
licensing agreement, uninstall the Device Manager agent after installation finishes.
6. The following message appears when installation finishes:
Installation of Device Manager - Agent has been completed
successfully.
7. When a new installation of the Device Manager agent ends, the hdvmagt_account command
is executed.
Follow the command instruction to set up the Device Manager agent. For details on how to do
this, see section
2-6 .
To install the Device Manager Agent by overwriting version 1.0 or later:
1. Insert the Device Manager agent CD-ROM and mount it.
2. Run the install.sh command.
For example, if the CD-ROM is mounted as /cdrom, execute the command as follows:
# cd /cdrom/Linux/HostAgent
# ./install.sh
Executing install.sh starts installation of the Device Manager agent. (Installation of add-on
functionality is also performed.)
