Installation Requirements and Procedures 22
• You must be a super user.
• At least 64 MB of free space is required on the hard disk. An additional 96 MB of free space is
required on the system drive to create temporary files during installation.
• Stop all Agents currently running.
When installing the Device Manager agent, the JRE (version 1.4.2 (Build 06 or later)) must be
installed in advance. Use the following procedure to install it, and use the 32-bit JRE:
If you want to newly install the Device Manager agent, use the installation support tool to first install
the JRE required for the Device Manager agent, and then install the Device Manager agent.
To install the JRE and Device Manager agent:
1. Insert the Device Manager Agent CD-ROM and mount it.
2. Execute the installation support tool (agent_jre_setup.sh).
For example, if the CD-ROM is mounted at /cdrom, execute the command as follows:
• # cd /cdrom/Agent/Solaris
• # ./agent_jre_setup.sh
NOTE: If you want to install a JRE other than the one bundled on the CD-ROM, you can use
arguments to specify the JRE you want to install. For arguments, use the full path to specify the name
of the JRE installer. The installer is executed as follows. In this example, the JRE installer (j2re-
1_4_2_06-solaris-sparc.sh) is located in the /tmp folder.
# ./agent_jre_setup.sh jre=/tmp/j2re-1_4_2_06-solaris-sparc.sh
If the JRE (version 1.4.2 (Build 06 or later)) was not specified, the error message KAIC25165-E
appears, and the installation is canceled.
3. At this point, software licensing agreement information will appear. If you do not accept the
licensing agreement, uninstall the Device Manager agent after installation finishes.
4. The following message appears when installation finishes:
• Installation of Device Manager - Agent has been completed
successfully.
5. When a new installation of the Device Manager agent ends, the hdvmagt_account command
is executed.
Follow the command instruction to set up the Device Manager agent. For details on how to do
this, see section
2-6 .
To install the Device Manager agent by overwriting version 1.0 or later:
1. Insert the Device Manager agent CD-ROM and mount it.
2. Run install.sh as shown in Figure 2-12.
For example, if the CD-ROM is mounted as /cdrom, execute the command as follows:
• # cd /cdrom/Solaris/HostAgent
• # ./install.sh
Executing install.sh starts installation of the Device Manager agent and the add-on
functionality.
NOTE: If the JRE (version 1.4.2 (Build 06 or later)) has not been installed in the
/opt/HDVM/agent/JRE1.4 directory, the error message KAIC25165-E displays, and the
installation is canceled.
3. At this point, software licensing agreement information will display. If you do not accept the
licensing agreement, uninstall the Device Manager agent after installation finishes.
4. The following message displays when installation finishes:
