HP P9000 Replication Manager Software 7.3.1-00 CLI User Guide
• In a cluster configuration using Veritas Cluster Server for Windows, the file system that contains
registry replication data should not be backed up by Application Agent. Make sure that you allocate
such a file system to a disk group or physical disk that is not subject to backup.
System configurations for backing up Exchange databases
This section describes system configurations in which Application Agent is used to back up Exchange
databases.
Cascade configurations
When you back up Exchange databases, Application Agent can back up data concurrently at both
the local and remote sites. This type of multi-level backup configuration is called a cascade
configuration.
To back up a volume in a cascade configuration, you need a database server and a backup server
at both the local site and the remote site.
The following figure shows an example of a cascade configuration when Application Agent is used
to back up Exchange databases.

CCR configurations
Application Agent supports backup in a CCR configuration. CCR is a high availability function of
Exchange Server 2007, and includes the following features:
• Ability to ship logs (transaction log replication) between active and standby server volumes.
• When VSS backup is used with SCC, backups can be performed only at the active server. However,
when VSS backup is used with CCR, backups can also be performed at the standby server.
• Ability to reduce processing loads on the active server by performing backups on the standby
server.
In this manual, the function that performs seed processing automatically when restoring data is called
the automatic seed function. For details about seed processing, see the Exchange Server 2007 manual.
CCR can be configured for performing backups in any of the following four ways:
• Configuration in which only the active server is used
• Configuration in which only the standby server is used
