HP P9000 Replication Manager Software 7.2 Configuration Guide

Requirements for open systems
The following table shows the requirements for hosts and pair management servers.

P9000 RAID Manager version requirement
If the version of Device Manager Agent used with Replication Manager is 6.4.0 or later, HP strongly
recommends that the version of P9000 RAID Manager running on the same host as the agent be
01.17.03 or later. If an earlier version of P9000 RAID Manager is used, an error will occur that
requires a property file setting described below.
When a host running Device Manager Agent and P9000 RAID Manager is restarted, device information
is updated. This update can render the configuration definition file used to identify command devices
obsolete (because values referring to pre-update device information remain unchanged). This might
make it impossible to gather pair, pool and journal information from Replication Manager.
To prevent this error, specify the following Device Manager Agent property in the server.properties
file:
server.agent.rm.optimization.userHorcmFile=true
P9000 RAID Manager version and consistency group support
To create remote pairs with the CTG option, P9000 RAID Manager 01.21.03 or later must be installed
on the pair management server. If an earlier version is installed, pairs can be created successfully,
but they are not members of a CT group (because the CTG option is ignored).
Requirements for operating Replication Manager at multiple sites
If you operate Replication Manager at multiple sites, you need to specify the settings so that the IP
addresses of management servers and pair management servers can be determined from their host
names (that is, name resolution can be performed).
For communication between a management server and pair management server, ensure that the
management server and pair management server can determine each other's IP address from their
host names. If the settings are specified so that address conversion is performed between the sites
(such as for a private address and NAT), Replication Manager might not correctly connect to
Device Manager Agents at other sites.
For communication between pair management servers; if you perform a remote copy using multiple
pair management servers, ensure that the pair management server at the primary site and the pair
management server at the secondary site can determine each other's IP address from their host
