HP P9000 Replication Manager Software 7.2 Configuration Guide

Items to be checked on the pair management server
This section describes how to make sure that the settings in the configuration definition files for Device
Manager Agent and P9000 RAID Manager are correct:
1. Installation of Device Manager Agent, page 119
2. Link between Device Manager server and Device Manager Agent, page 119
3. Properties of Device Manager Agent, page 119
4. Settings in the P9000 RAID Manager configuration definition file, page 119
For details about commands to be executed on the pair management server, how to operate Device
Manager Agent, and how to specify configuration definition files that are supported by Device
Manager, see the HP P9000 Command View Advanced Edition Software Device Manager Agent
Administrator Guide.
NOTE:
When using Device Manager Agent on VMware 4.x, it is necessary to confirm the prerequisite
combination of Device manager server and Device Manager Agent. Even if you use Device Manager
and the Device Manager Agent for which the prior prerequisite combination has been confirmed,
the following precaution must be noted:
If the target volume is set as a command device on the virtual machine, by using Add CMD
Devices, the virtualization server needs to be restarted in order to recognize the set command
device.
Installation of Device Manager Agent
Make sure Device Manager Agent is installed on both pair management servers that manage a
primary and secondary volume.
Link between Device Manager server and Device Manager Agent
Make sure Device Manager Agent links correctly with Device Manager server using the
hdvmagt_account command. If the link is incorrect, execute this command on the pair management
server to change the settings.
Properties of Device Manager Agent
Make sure Device Manager Agent properties (stored in the pair management server) are correct. For
details about the properties to be specified, see Configuring the Replication Manager
infrastructure on page 43. If you change the properties, restart Device Manager Agent.
Settings in the P9000 RAID Manager configuration definition file
Make sure that the specified settings in the P9000 RAID Manager configuration definition files are
correct, and the HORCM instances that correspond to these files can start without any problems. Also,
make sure that parameter formats and specified settings in the configuration definition files are
supported by Device Manager.
