Host requirements
Device Manager can manage, as hosts, computers that use volumes on managed storage systems.
By using Device Manager to centrally manage the disk resources for individual hosts, you can assign
the most appropriate volume based on usage.
Hosts that can be managed by Device Manager
To allocate storage system volumes to hosts (application servers) or check the volume usage of each
host, target hosts must be registered in Device Manager as Device Manager resources.
Device Manager can manage the volume usage of the hosts in the following table.

After virtual machines and physical environments in which Windows Server 2008 (Hyper-V) is
installed have been registered in Device Manager, Device Manager treats them as normal hosts.
NOTE:
The names of the hosts managed by Device Manager must be 50 bytes or less.
