HP XP7 Replication Manager Configuration Guide (TK981-96012, May 2014)
pair In this manual, pair means copy pair.
pair status Indicates the current status of the copy pair. Replication Manager uses six status
values: error, suspend, copying, sync, simplex, and unknown. A pair
status is also called copy pair status.
paired volume Denotes a primary and secondary volume pair linked by a volume replication
functionality of a storage system. Also called a copy pair. In this manual,
copy pair is sometimes written simply as pair.
physical ID An ID associated with a physical resource as opposed to a virtual one. See
virtual ID.
prefix The prefix portion of a copy group definition file created by HP XP7 Business
Continuity Manager or XP7 mainframe agent. Copy group definition files are
created individually by prefix, so Replication Manager uses this prefix as a
unique name to identify copy group definition files created by HP XP7 Business
Continuity Manager or XP7 mainframe agent.
P-VOL (primary
volume)
The source volume that is copied to another volume using the volume replication
functionality of a storage system.
property files Generic term for the files that define a Replication Manager operating
environment. The Replication Manager operating environment can be modified
by changing the appropriate property files.
RAID Manager Software used to control volume replication functionality (such as Continuous
Access or Business Copy) by means of commands issued from a host to a storage
system. A command device must be set up in the storage system to enable the
storage system to receive commands from RAID Manager.
In an open system, Replication Manager uses the RAID Manager configuration
definition files to modify copy pair configurations and to acquire configuration
information. Copy pair modification processing, such as splitting and
re-synchronizing copy pairs, is executed on the storage system using RAID
Manager.
refresh The term refresh refers to updating the database that is maintained by
Replication Manager by using the most recent information. This database stores
copy pair configuration information and copy pair status information obtained
from Device Manager servers, Device Manager Agent, HP XP7 Business Continuity
Manager, XP7 mainframe agent, and Application Agent.
remote path A logical path linking storage systems that is used for remote copying (replication
of volumes between storage systems).
Remote Scan A volume scan that can be performed on Non Gen'ed volumes outside the site
where HP XP7 Business Continuity Manager resides. The remote DAD attribute
is assigned to the disk configuration definition file in which the discovered volumes
are stored.
RMI Remote Method Invocation.
SP-VOL
(secondary-primary
volume)
The volume located in the middle of a cascade structure, when a cascade structure
is used by the volume replication functionality of a storage system. Indicates the
secondary volume in an upper level copy pair or the primary volume in a lower
level copy pair.
