If you execute a command other than the Help function by specifying a login user ID but not

specifying the login password for the option or property, a message appears prompting you to

enter the login password.

If you specify csv with the -f (or --format) option as one of the parameters for the GetStor-

ageArray command, there are some parameters that you cannot specify. For details about the

parameters that you cannot specify when -f csv is specified, see “Outputting execution results

in CSV format” on page 443.

The parameters that form the input to a command are specified from the command line as name/value

pairs. The parameter name is specified first, then the equal sign and the parameter value, as follows:

ipaddress=192.168.2.2

Whenever a parameter value requires one or more space characters, double quotes can be used to

enclose the parameter value, as follows:

description="Our Newest Array"

Each command might have required parameters, optional parameters, or both, and you can specify

any parameter in the application's properties file. If a parameter is specified both from the command

line and in the properties file, the value from the command line is used.

Executing the Device Manager CLI by using HTTPS

The following shows an example of executing the command (GetServerInfo command) when

HTTPS is used to communicate with the Device Manager server.

• In Windows:

hdvmcli.bat -s https://device-manager-server-host-name:2443/service GetServerInfo

• In Solaris, AIX, Linux, or HP-UX:

hdvmcli.sh -s https://device-manager-server-host-name:2443/service GetServerInfo

Specify the option and URL (communication protocol, Device Manager server host name, port number,

and base address) as below. If you specify these values in a property file, you can omit them from

the command line:

• Option: -s (or --secure)

• Communication protocol: https://

• Host name for the Device Manager server: The host name specified in the Device Manager server

certificate when the environment was set up.

• Port number: The HTTPS port for the Device Manager server (default is 2443)

If a firewall is set up between the computer on which the Device Manager CLI is running and the

Device Manager server, set the firewall so the Device Manager server port number can be used.

• Base address: The base address of the Device Manager server (default is service)
