5-2 Logs Output by Tiered Storage Manager
5-2-1 Log Types
This subsection describes the output contents and output destinations of each log. Tiered Storage Manager
outputs the following six types of logs:
Command View XP AE Suite common logs
Message logs
Trace logs
Installation-related trace logs
Command log
Server request reception log
5-2-1-1 Command View XP AE Suite Common Logs
The Command View XP AE Suite common logs consist of log information from the Command View XP AE
Suite.
Integrated trace log contains particularly important message logs and trace logs. The integrated trace log
file is named hntr2n.log (where n indicates a number), and is located in: <HNTRLib2-
installation-folder>\spool.
Event log contains particularly important message logs. The event log can be viewed in Windows by
choosing Computer Management, System Tools, and then Event Viewer. The event log file is called
AppEvent.EVT and is located in:
<Windows installation folder>\system32\config.
5-2-1-2 Message Logs
The message logs document executed processing and a history of the processing results. It is more than the
Command View XP AE Suite common logs. The message logs are called HTSMServerMessagen.log (where
n is a number), and are located at <server installation folder>\logs.
5-2-1-3 Trace Logs
The trace logs contain log information that is collected to investigate the details of an error occurrence. The
trace logs are called HTSMServerTracen.log (where n is a number), and are located at <server
installation folder>\logs.
5-2-1-4 Installation-Related Trace Logs
The installation-related trace logs consist of log information that is collected to investigate the details of an error
during installation or uninstallation.
Installer trace log is called HTSM_TL_Install_yyyy-mm-dd_hh-mm-ss.log (indicating the year,
month, day, hour, minute and second), and is located at <server installation folder>\inst
Uninstaller trace log is called HTSM_TL_Uninstall_yyyy-mm-dd_hh-mm-ss.log, and is located at
<server installation folder>\inst.
If output to a destination folder is not possible, the logs are output to the following folder:
For a new installation: Windows root directory
For other installations and uninstallation: <server installation folder> root drive
The logs output to these folders cannot be obtained by using the cvxpaegetlogs command.
