Open the Cluster Administrator, then right-click the Device Manager resource group and select Take
Offline.
• To switch the Tiered Storage Manager server node manually:
Open the Cluster Administrator, then right-click the Device Manager resource group and select Move
Group.
Tiered Storage Manager uses alias IP addresses to inherit the IP addresses between the nodes in the cluster
configuration.
3-3 Backing up the Repositories
The Tiered Storage Manager server uses repositories to manage domain control storage subsystem
management information. Making regular backups is essential because a problem in the database could cause
the server to become inoperable.
CAUTION: A restoration cannot be performed if you changed the storage destination for the repositories of
the Tiered Storage Manager server since the last backup was acquired. If the storage destination of the
repositories was changed by uninstalling and re-installing the Tiered Storage Manager server, obtain a
backup after re-installing the Tiered Storage Manager server.
3-3-1 Backing up the Repository in a Standard Environment
1. Log on as an administrator.
2. Stop all Command View XP AE Suite software on the server, in the following order:
• Tiered Storage Manager. (For instructions refer to sections
3-1 and 3-2 .)
• Device Manager. Select Start, Programs, HP Command View XP AE, Device Manager, and then
Stop Server.
3. Make sure that HiRDB is running. If it is not, start it with the following command:
<Command-View-XP-AE-Suite-Common-Component-installation-
folder>\bin\hcmdsdbsrv /start
4. The folder for storing a backup file must be empty. If the specified folder does not exist, the specified
folder will be created. Enter the following command:
<Command-View-XP-AE-Suite-Common-Component-installation-
folder>\bin\hcmdsbackups /dir <backup file folder>
5. Start all Command View XP AE Suite software, in the following order:
• Device Manager. Select Start, Programs, HP Command View XP AE, Device Manager, and then Start
Server.
• Tiered Storage Manager. (For instructions refer to sections
3-1 and 3-2 .)
3-3-2 Backing up the Repository in a Cluster Environment
You will back up the repository on the executing node.
1. Log on as an administrator.
2. In the Cluster Administrator, right-click the following resources and select Take Offline.

• HiCommandServer
3. The folder for storing a backup file must be empty. If the specified folder does not exist, the specified
folder will be created. Enter the following command:
<Command-View-XP-AE-Suite-Common-Component-installation-
folder>\bin\hcmdsbackups /dir <backup file folder>
4. In the Cluster Administrator, right-click the following resources and select Take Online.
