2-2-2 Setting up a Windows Firewall
If Windows Firewall is enabled, you need to add Tiered Storage Manager to the Windows Firewall exceptions
list to operate Tiered Storage Manager.
To add Tiered Storage Manager to the Windows Firewall exceptions list:
1. Use the following command to add Tiered Storage Manager to the Windows Firewall exceptions list:
netsh firewall add allowedprogram program="installation-folder-for-Tiered-
Storage-Manager\bin\htsmService.exe" name="Tiered Storage Manager"
mode=ENABLE
2. Use the following command to check the registered contents:
netsh firewall show all
From the command execution results, ensure that:
• Tiered Storage Manager is displayed.
• the mode is Enable.
• the path for htsmService.exe is correct.
3. Use the following command to cancel an entry in the exceptions list:
netsh firewall delete allowedprogram program="installation-folder-for-Tiered
Storage-Manager\bin\htsmService.exe"
