2-1-3 Subsystem Requirements
Domain Controller:
• Subsystem: StorageWorks XP12000/XP10000 subsystem
• StorageWorks XP12000
• StorageWorks XP10000
• Required programs that must be installed on the domain controller:
• HP LUN Config & Security Mgr XP - LUN Mgr
• Auto LUN V2
• XP Data Shredder (required when a migration source volume is erased after migration). For more
information, see HP StorageWorks Configuration and Security Manager XP User Guide for the
XP12000/XP10000.
• HP External Storage XP (required when another storage subsystem is externally connected and an
external volume is the target of Tiered Storage Manager operations). For more information, see HP
StorageWorks External Storage XP User Guide for the XP12000/XP10000.
External Storage Subystem:
Following are the external storage subsystems that can be managed by Tiered Storage Manager:
• StorageWorks XP1024/XP128
• StorageWorks XP512/XP48
Apart from these storage subsystems, storage subsystems that are supported by StorageWorks
XP12000/XP10000 external storage connection can also be managed. When a storage subsystem other than
an XP series disk array is connected externally, some volume attributes are displayed as "Unknown". These
volume attributes cannot be searched by conditional searches.
2-2 Installing Tiered Storage Manager in a Windows Standard
Environment
2-2-1 Performing a New Installation
Before you begin a new installation, make sure to back up all other Command View XP AE Suite software. For
more information on backing up a Command View XP AP Suite software, please see the manual for that
product.
You should verify the following:
• Device Manager server has already been installed.
• There is 150 MB or more of free disk space available.
• There is 100 MB or more of free disk space available on the machine that will store the repository.
• The Windows Services panel is not open.
• No other applications are running.
You will need to enter the following information, so you will need to determine it in advance:
• The folder in which you are going to install Tiered Storage Manager server
• The folder in which you are going to store the repository for Tiered Storage Manager server
• The host name (IP address) of the machine on which you are going to install Tiered Storage Manager
server
• The port number for Command View XP AE Suite Common Web Service
• The port number used by Device Manager for HTTP communications
• The user ID and password of the System Administrator or Storage Administrator that will allow Tiered
Storage Manager to use Device Manager
NOTE: If Windows Firewall is enabled, a warning dialog box might be output during installation, asking you
whether you want to keep blocking the program. If it appears, choose Unblock or Ask Me Later. After
installation finishes, you need to set up a Windows Firewall. For information, see section
2-2-2 .
