2-1 System and Media Requirements
2-1-1 Server Requirements
WARNING! Do not install Tiered Storage Manager and Tuning Manager (large database) on the same
server.
The following are the minimum suggested requirements for Windows
®
servers:
• Device Manager must be installed.
• Operating system (standard environment):
• Windows 2000 Professional (Service Pack 3) or later
• Windows 2000 Server (Service Pack 3) or later
• Windows 2000 Advanced Server (Service Pack 3) or later
• Windows 2000 Data Center Server (Service Pack 3) or later
• Windows Server 2003, Standard Edition
• Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition
• Windows Server 2003, Datacenter Edition
• Windows XP Professional (Service Pack 2) or later
• Operating system (cluster environment):
• Windows 2000 Advanced Server (Service Pack 4) or later
• Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition
• Cluster requirements:
• Cluster software: Microsoft Cluster Server
• Number of nodes: 2
• Cluster configuration: Active-Standby configuration
• Monitor: SVGA (800 x 600) or greater
• CPU: minimum 1 GHz or more; 2 GHz is recommended
• Memory: 512 MB or more; 1 GB or more is recommended
• Disk capacity: 1 GB or more; 5 GB or more is recommended

• Prerequisite operating system for the management client to run the Tiered Storage Manager client:
• Windows 2000 Professional (Service Pack 3) or later

• Windows 2000 Data Center Server (Service Pack 3) or later
• Windows XP Professional
• Solaris 8, Solaris 9 (SPARC edition)
• HP-UX 11i V1.0 or V2.0
• Prerequisite programs for the management client to run the Tiered Storage Manager web client:
• Internet Explorer, version 6.0 for Windows 2000
• Internet Explorer, version 6.0 (Service Pack 1) for Windows XP
• Netscape 7.0, Mozilla 1.4 for Solaris (SPARC edition), Mozilla 1.7.3_02 for HP-UX
• Prerequisite programs for the management client to run the Tiered Storage Manager CLI client:
