Figure 1-5 illustrates a configuration where the server and the client are on the same machine.

The minimum configuration of the Tiered Storage Manager system is the following machines connected via a
TCP/IP network:
• Management server and management client
• Domain controller
• Host
In this configuration, no external storage subsystems are connected to the domain controller. Therefore, the
management range of Tiered Storage Manager is limited to the internal volumes within the domain controller.

External storage subsystems can be connected to the domain controller. To use an external storage
