1-4 Tiered Storage Manager Components
1-4-1 Tiered Storage Manager Software
Tiered Storage Manager consists of the following basic components:
• Domain controller
A subsystem with an external storage connection function that virtually integrates external storage
subsystems to allow users to centrally manage them. Domain controllers are supported for StorageWorks
XP12000 and XP10000. This subsystem can relocate data on a volume between storage subsystems
that have different sizes or performance.
Each domain controller must be managed by only one Tiered Storage Manager. One Tiered Storage
Manager can manage a maximum of 5 domain controllers, and 16,384 volumes.
• External storage subsystem
A storage subsystem that is integrated with a domain controller by an external storage connection.
