Intended audience
This manual is intended for users who employ XP Replication Monitor software to operate and manage systems
that include a storage subsystem (magnetic disk array device).
This manual is written for the following users:
• Those who design systems that use XP Replication Monitor software
• Those who want to learn XP Replication Monitor installation procedures, such as installing, uninstalling, and
setting up the environment
• Those who change, maintain, or fine-tune the configuration of a system in which XP Replication Monitor
software is already installed
This manual assumes that the user has already read HP StorageWorks XP Replication Monitor software user
guide, and has a basic understanding of the XP Replication Monitor product. This manual also assumes that the
reader has the following:
• Knowledge of storage subsystems and related software
• A basic knowledge of SANs (Storage Area Networks) and management software used to operate storage
subsystems
• Knowledge of storage subsystem volume replication functionality (provided by HP StorageWorks Business
Copy XP and HP StorageWorks Continuous Access XP Synchronous)
Prerequisites
Prerequisites for installing this product include:
• Ability to use a prerequisite operating system and web browser
• A basic knowledge of HP StorageWorks Command View XP Advanced Edition software Device Manager
• A basic knowledge of Business Continuity Manager (when managing on a mainframe system)
• Reading through the user guide.
• Meeting all the minimum installation requirements.
• Reviewing the readme.txt file on the CD for any last-minute announcements.
