During information source registration, you can specify that configuration information is not to be collected from
an information source. The default setting is that configuration information is collected and the collected
information is stored in the database maintained by XP Replication Monitor software.
You can also change any of the above information after you have registered an information source. When you
change the IP address (or host name), protocol, or port number, not only is the information changed;
configuration information is also collected from the information source.
3-4-1 Registering a Device Manager server as an information source
This section explains the procedure for registering a Device Manager server as an information source. It also
explains the procedure for changing the information associated with an information source after the information
source has been registered.
To register a Device Manager server as an information source:
1. From the Explorer menu, select Settings and then Information Source.
An object tree from which you can select an information source appears in the navigation area, and an
information source list appears in the application area.
2. Choose Device Manager from the object tree or from the list.
A list of registered Device Manager servers appears in the application area.
3. Click the Add DevMgr button.
A dialog box appears for adding a Device Manager server.

4. Enter the name (nickname) and the IP address or host name (Host ID) of the Device Manager server.
5. To change the default values that are displayed for the protocol and port number, select the button for the
protocol, or enter the desired value for the port number.
6. Enter the user ID and password for connecting to the Device Manager server.
NOTE: The user account of the user whose user name and password are specified here must have
Device Manager Modify permission and All Resources assigned to its resource group. XP Replication
Monitor software uses this user name and password to access the Device Manager for viewing and
setting Device Manager related parameters.
7. To suppress collection of configuration information from the Device Manager server, clear the Acquire the
pair configuration managed by the Device Manager during the registration checkbox.
