Continuous Access XP includes Continuous Access XP Synchronous (synchronous mode) and Continuous
Access XP Asynchronous (asynchronous mode). In the web client for XP Replication Monitor software
window, Continuous Access XP Synchronous can appear as CA-XP
(Sync), and Continuous Access XP
Asynchronous can appear as CA-XP (Async).
Continuous Access XP Journal
Continuous Access XP Journal asynchronously duplicates volumes between storage subsystems. For details,
see the Continuous Access XP Journal documentation.
In the web client for XP Replication Monitor software window, Continuous Access XP Journal can appear as
CA-XP (Jrnl).
1-5-5-2 Software for managing storage subsystem operations
Software for managing storage subsystem operations gives you fine control over capabilities unique to each
storage subsystem. XP Remote Web Console for XP12000/XP10000/SVS200 and XP1024/XP128 is an
example of subsystem management software.
1-5-5-3 Notes on using software provided with the storage subsystem (open systems only)
HP recommends that you keep the following points in mind when using software that is provided with the storage
subsystem.
• If you use storage subsystem operation management software to create copy pairs, the copy pair
information that XP Replication Monitor software can collect is limited. For best results with XP Replication
Monitor software, HP recommends that you create copy pairs through Device Manager.
• If you work directly in Device Manager, RAID Manager XP, or storage subsystem operation management
software (XP Remote Web Console) to perform any of the operations listed below, always perform a Device
Manager refresh operation to update the Device Manager database with the most recent information.
• Changing the configuration of a storage subsystem (by adding a new disk drive, for example)
• Creating a copy pair or changing the status of a copy pair
If you do not update the Device Manager information, the XP Replication Monitor software will not have the
most recent configuration information.
