HP StorageWorks P9000 Command View Advanced Edition Suite Software 7.1 Administrator Guide (web) (TB581-96050, May 2011)

The host that acquires performance information (the Device Manager agent) acquires the inform-
ation of P9500, XP24000/XP20000 and XP12000/XP10000/SVS200 by using the command
device within the storage system, and then reports it to the Device Manager server.
The system configuration that is required to acquire performance information of a storage system
differs depending on the storage system model.
For information on P9500, XP24000/XP20000 or XP12000/XP10000/SVS200, see Settings
required to acquire performance information for P9500, XP24000/XP20000 and
XP12000/XP10000/SVS200 storage systems on page 148.

XP24000/XP20000 and XP12000/XP10000/SVS200 storage systems
This section describes the settings required to acquire performance information for P9500,
XP24000/XP20000 and XP12000/XP10000/SVS200 storage systems.
Preparations in storage systems
Prepare a command device for each storage system from which you want to acquire performance
information, and then assign the path to the host that acquires performance information so that the
host can recognize the command device.
To acquire P9500 performance information, force hosts to recognize command devices for which
authentication mode is disabled.
Preparations in the host that acquires performance information
Configure the settings shown below for the host that acquires performance information:
To configure the settings:
1. Install the Device Manager agent.
To acquire performance information, a RAID Manager/LIB is necessary. If you install the Device
Manager agent on a host, the necessary RAID Manager/LIB is installed. However, if the host
OS is UNIX, and a RAID Manager/LIB is already installed on the host, the RAID Manager/LIB
is not overwritten. If this is the case, install the proper RAID Manager/LIB, as shown in the following
table.
